Did you know that only 54% of Dutch households can pay all their bills without difficulty? The National Coalition for Financial Health (Dutch: NCFG) is a collaboration of public and private organizations working together to build a financially healthy Netherlands. The belief is that a financially healthy society contributes to the well-being of individuals, organizations, the economy and therefore our society as a whole. By 2030, the NCFG aims to cut in half the number of households that are financially struggling or unhealthy.
Physical, mental and financial health are deeply interconnected. Addressing financial issues can also improve physical and mental well-being. For example, 6–7% of all adults experience severe anxiety and depression symptoms. Among those with chronic financial problems, that number jumps to 25–27 percent. People dealing with financial stress are 2.5 times more likely to develop chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. In fact, around 30% of people with financial difficulties postpone (preventive) medical care, increasing the risk of serious health issues.
Why the partnership between IG&H and NCFG?
IG&H is a new partner of the NCFG. As a consultancy and technology firm with deep roots in healthcare, retail and financial services, IG&H brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment to the NCFG network.
IG&H has deliberately chosen to join the NCFG because it aligns closely with its mission and core values. Financial education and ‘planning for the future’ are key motivators. “We see opportunities here for IG&H to truly make a difference,” says Jan Pieter van der Helm, Managing Director of Financial Services at IG&H. The link between financial stress, health and healthcare usage further highlights the importance of collaboration within the NCFG. IG&H also emphasizes the relevance for the retail sector, where buy-now-pay-later models are increasingly impacting financial well-being.
As a new partner, IG&H will actively contribute to the NCFG’s focus areas and seek collaboration with other members. With their multidisciplinary perspective and dedication to social impact, the parties expect to make a meaningful contribution.
