Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m Anne Fleur, and I’ve been working at IG&H for almost 3 years now. Fresh out of the university, I started as an analyst in the Healthcare team. This wasn’t a surprise to most, as I’ve always been motivated to contribute to a healthier society. I began my studies in a laboratory focused on developing new medicines, and later explored innovation management, venture capital and artificial intelligence. Throughout it all, healthcare remained the red thread in my academic journey. Working as a consultant in healthcare, the societal impact we make day-to-day drives me. Outside of work, I find energy in cycling, mountain biking, discovering new music and baking.

What drew you to IG&H?

IG&H’s strong presence in healthcare consulting aligns with my deep-rooted motivation to make meaningful impact in this sector. Next to that, strategy consulting offers me a perfect match of structured problem-solving and creative thinking. Although I enjoy puzzling through complex problems, what I love most is rolling up my sleeves and turning ideas into action, just like kneading a dough when I’m baking! Here, I'm surrounded by colleagues who share this hands-on mentality and a genuine drive to make a difference. It’s this combination of purpose, challenge and team spirit that drew me to IG&H.

What is your role & what does it involve?

As a consultant I support several types of stakeholders in healthcare (like healthcare providers, insurance companies, government bodies) in shaping and executing strategies that improve care accessibility, (cost-)efficiency and organizational performance. My work week typically entails analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, preparing advisory reports through storytelling and organizing workshops and presentations for clients. This could be creating a strategy roadmap for a hospital or analyzing patient flow data to improve care delivery.

You mention storytelling. What can we imagine here?

You can compare writing a plan to creating a pitch. It's about highlighting the right aspects to make a good offer.

What does a typical day at IG&H look like?

It begins with a quick daily check-in to align with my project team on actions and points of attention. After that, I like to get started on most of the analytical work – sometimes it’s creating a business case for a certain type of care transformation, other times it’s analyzing the outcomes of a workshop to distinguish main messages in our insights. In the afternoon, I like to plan my brainstorms. These can be on certain analytical models to use in our methods, on the organization of important client events or on the storyline of a report I’m working on. No day is the same, but that’s exactly what I like about work.

What do you enjoy most about working at IG&H?

The room for growth and challenges we’re offered. Our company really has a high caring, high daring culture that encourages personal growth, fosters an entrepreneurial mindset and creates a safe environment in which you can grow as a professional. Next to that, I really enjoy working in a sector team, with so many intelligent colleagues that teach me new skills every day! For instance, learning about aligning business functionalities with IT functionalities to make regional data available to deliver better healthcare.

What has been your proudest moment at IG&H?

My proudest moment was seeing the vision of a regional healthcare data platform in a Dutch healthcare region come to life – the result of a project of almost 2 years in the making. Together with healthcare professionals from hospitals, elderly care, GPs, and labs, we developed a transformative plan to realize regional data availability, based on the foundation of 5 different use cases. The initiative is now a big transformative program, in which 100+ people in that region are working on. Having been part of that blueprint creation makes me proud.

What do you like most about your role?

Connecting strategy to real-world impact and collaborating with passionate people, whether it’s the healthcare professionals on our clients’ side or the colleagues in my project teams – together we’re making a difference in healthcare.

What is your advice to other women looking to pursue a career in tech/strategy consulting?

I’d say you shouldn’t be afraid to bring your full self to the table. Tech and strategy consulting can be a fast-paced and demanding environment to work in, but your unique perspective is your strength. A picture-perfect profile of a strategy consultant doesn’t exist, so there is no need to fit into a mold of what you think you should be! Embrace what sets you apart from the typical profile, because sometimes that's exactly what's needed to make an even better change.
